Cardholders get more protection abroad

Credit card holders who use their plastic overseas will enjoy greater protection after the Office of Fair Trading yesterday won a legal challenge over the issue in the Court of Appeal.

Three senior judges overturned an earlier High Court ruling in which a judge had agreed with credit card groups that the protection offered to cardholders on UK purchases should not apply to foreign credit card contracts, even when the buyer was in the UK or the goods were delivered to the UK.
