VW dispute descends into open warfare

Open warfare yesterday broke out on Volkswagen's supervisory board as right-wing politicians and union officials locked horns on attempts to score political points over the alleged bribery scandal at Europe's largest carmaker.

The fate of Peter Hartz, the management board member for human resources caught up in the scandal who has worked closely with all the workers involved, is increasingly being used by heavyweights on both sides to further their position.
