Wall Street fall triggers trading curbs

Wall Street stocks plunged on Tuesday triggering trading curbs and reversing this year’s gains as the slump in China’s main stock index spooked investors and sparked a flight to quality.

The broad and aggressive sell-off in US stocks gathered pace through in the afternoon. It followed mounting concerns about the US economy, credit markets and stock valuations.
