First Choice is taking stock of the unlikely situation it finds itself in: still owning an asset that only weeks ago was so desirable to both MyTravel and Thomas Cook that the company was turning perfectly good possible bidders away from the auction.

Analysts and bankers are divided on how First Choice’s collapsed auction of its package holiday business will affect the company’s fortunes.
