India ‘could halve emissions by 2030’

India could lower its expected carbon emissions by up to half by 2030 through heavy investment in energy efficient technologies in the power, transport and agricultural sectors, a study has said.

The paper, by consultants McKinsey and Company, argues that an assault on carbon emissions could disproportionately benefit India compared with other countries, by reducing its dependence on foreign oil imports and giving it an edge in green technologies.
