Japan Post predicts $5bn profit

Japan Post said on Monday that it is aiming to earn a net profit of Y630bn ($5.5bn) in the year ending March 2009 – the first time it has published a profit forecast.

The group is the world’s biggest savings institution, and its reorganisation is seen as central to the reform agenda prime minister Junichiro Koizumi.
