Investment environment: Overseas capital is welcome but faces a taxing time

For all its claims to be opening the doors to foreign investment, the Japanese government is not making foreigners feel particularly welcome.

The latest developments in the saga involving triangular mergers, for example, send a strong signal that Japan is reluctant to make it easier for foreign capital to acquire domestic companies.
