Brussels has approved Denmark’s emergency guarantee package for the country’s banks, saying it was compatible with EU state aid rules.

The decision will be seen as setting down a marker for other countries which are also in the process of notifying emergency schemes to the EU competition authorities for approval under state aid guidelines.
