Kevin Martin, Law Society president, is keen to rebut what he describes as the myth that lawyers are “only interested in making money”.

He says there are “countless stories” of solicitors doing voluntary work, which in the past year has ranged from offering advice to those affected by terrorist attacks to defending the legal rights of people interned at Guantanamo Bay by the US authorities.
