Cement groups raided by antitrust inspectors

Inspectors from the European Commission and national antitrust bodies raided the Spanish offices of Holcim, Cemex and other cement companies this week as part of parallel probes into suspected price-fixing and other offences.

The Commission said ­yesterday it had “reason to believe that the companies concerned may have violated antitrust rules that prohibit cartels and restrictive business practices and/or the abuse of a dominant market position”.
