Verizon limits some handset exclusivity deals

Verizon Wireless, the largest US mobile network operator, bowed to mounting pressure from US lawmakers and smaller network operators and agreed to limit some of its handset exclusivity agreements with manufacturers to six months.

The group, a joint venture between Verizon Communications and Britain’s Vodafone group, said its concession will only apply to its smallest rivals – those with 500,000 or fewer subscribers.
