Beijing seeks action after apology by Koizumi

China has quelled violent protests against Japan for the first time since they began a month ago, after a summit meeting eased tensions between Asia's two most powerful economies.

However, Hu Jintao, China's president, said after the meeting in Jakarta with Junichiro Koizumi, Japan's prime minister, that the Japanese apology for his country's wartime aggression should be followed with "concrete actions".
