President George W. Bush on Wednesday recruited a top Republican strategist and lobbyist to join his inner-circle of advisers, injecting fresh blood into his faltering administration 18 months before leaving office.
Ed Gillespie, chairman of the Republican National Committee during the party’s victorious 2004 election, will replace Dan Bartlett, who resigned earlier this month as White House counselor, one of the most influential roles in the West Wing.
