London finds its feet after Asian recovery

British Airways suffered after Germany Lufthansa warned on profits and rumours swirled that the UK carrier’s proposed merger with Iberia could be grounded until equity markets improved.

Traders said talk that Iberia might seek to change the terms of the deal because of BA’s rising pension fund deficit – that could have grown to £3bn – and its falling share price. BA has underperformed Iberia over the past month.
