Supermarkets stalk a blooming market

A new flower power revolution has begun on the high street. Sales of blooms have trebled in the past decade to more than £1.3bn, driven by the marketing clout of a range of big name retailers, including Tesco, Clinton Cards and Next, which have taken the flower market by storm.

The UK is now the 10th biggest nation for flower sales, still behind Switzerland, Norway and the Netherlands, the world leaders, but ahead of France, Japan and the US.
