Sony will create "evolving TVs" and other devices that can download and run third-party applications as part of its strategy to stand out from competitors.
Sony devices, from TVs to smartphones, will be able to download applications, video and music via a new Sony Online Service, which will use the existing server infrastructure, billing and login systems of its videogaming PlayStation Network . In essence, Sony is promising televisions with an iPhone-style "app store".
