GE plans to offer hospitals interest-free debt

General Electric plans to extend $100m in interest-free debt to US hospitals and physicians to help spur demand for its medical records systems before customers are reimbursed with government stimulus dollars.

The so-called Stimulus Simplicity programmes mark the latest co-operation between two businesses under GE's pledge to invest $6bn by 2015 in initiatives that lower healthcare costs and boost sales of its imaging gear and other medical products.
