Obesity trends ‘will take years to reverse’

Mounting obesity in the UK will take at least 30 years to reverse, a government report has warned, although it falls short of making clear proposals for change.

On current trends, more than half the population might be obese by 2050, triggering a seven-fold increase in the annual healthcare bill to £6bn and total costs to society of £46bn, the report warns.
