Algorithmic trading (or algo trading) has been an invaluable tool in the financial services sector for years. Given the move from open outcry trading floors to electronic trading, it is now almost impossible for traders of hedge funds, pension funds, mutual funds, and other institutional traders to do their jobs effectively without it.

Today, as a result of a variety of market factors, algo trading is far more sophisticated – a trend that looks set to continue well into the next decade.
