Blair defends G8 pledges

Tony Blair defended the G8 deal to boost aid for Africa from criticism on Saturday from aid agencies, who wanted an end to trade subsidies in western nations.

The Prime Minister said the Gleneagles summit had secured ``incredibly important’’ benefits for Africa that would help build vital infrastructure.
