Kikwete makes plea for diplomacy

Condemning and insulting President Robert Mugabe is counterproductive and world leaders would do better to swing behind regional efforts to resolve the crisis in Zimbabwe, President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania has said.

Mr Kikwete, a prominent player in regional negotiations over the worsening plight of Zimbabweans, pleaded that Africa’s diplomatic approach “will pay dividends” and should be given time.
