The developed world is "going to have to adjust" to prevent climate change becoming a global catastrophe, Hilary Benn, Britain's international development secretary, has warned.
His remarks go to the heart of the debate on global warming, which is top of the agenda for next week's Group of Eight summit in Gleneagles, Scotland. Officials from the G8 countries are haggling with the US over the wording of a document on the issue, which is due to be agreed at the summit.
