Four of the top five companies in the world are non-listed, according the FT Non-Public 150. If the list is compared with the top public companies by market capitalisation, only ExxonMobil makes the top five.

The combined top 100 should be seen as a guide rather than a definitive list, but it throws up some interesting observations.
