Sochi is known as "the resort of three seasons" - spring, summer, and autumn. No wonder President Vladimir Putin is one of many influential Russians with holiday homes in town.

But now Mr Putin is adding a fourth season to Sochi's attractions: the Black Sea resort this week secured the 2014 Winter Olympics, beating Salzburg of Austria, and Pyeongchang of South Korea.
