Kohlberg Kravis Roberts on Monday underscored efforts by private equity firms to diversify, saying it had hired William Sonneborn, most recently president and chief operating officer of TCW, to further develop its asset management business.

KKR’s efforts to expand into other areas were under way before the private equity bubble burst a year ago.
