BVT to keep Royal Navy ship shape

BVT Surface Fleet, the joint naval venture between BAE Systems and VT Group, has won a £309m contract to keep the Royal Navy’s new Type 45 destroyers at sea over the next seven years.

Under the innovative deal BVT, which is also building the six destroyers, will be paid for making the vessels available to the Royal Navy for a given amount of time at a particular operational level rather than for specific parts or spares.
