Overview: Currencies tumble amid renewed pessimism

Renewed worries over the world economy sent the dollar and the price of oil crashing to fresh lows this week.

The US Federal Reserve’s decision to cut interest rates to virtually zero was the main reason for the growing pessimism as it highlighted deep concerns among policy-makers over the severity of the economic crisis.
