AIFM directive ‘will harm investors’

The proposed Alternative Investment Fund Managers directive will harm pension fund investors, said Joanne Segars, chief executive of the UK’s National Association of Pension Funds.

“We are convinced that the directive as currently drafted will reduce the investment options available to investors. This will both reduce investment returns and increase risk,” said Ms Segars in a letter to Charlie McCreevy, the European Commissioner responsible for the draft directive.
