Political climate: Elections deal out wild cards

Foreign observers of the Turkish economic and political scene have begun to focus on the risks inherent in the July 22 general election, after four and a half years of unprecedented but still relative stability.

A July 4 report from London-based Capital Economics was headed “Turkey: the end of a golden era?”. Meanwhile Goldman Sachs said in a recent commentary: “Election risks are moderating but challenges still do exist”.
