Better to wait out siege by bidders

The “put up or shut up” order is one of the best weapons available to a British company under siege, but knowing when to use it calls for skill and sound judgment.

Too soon and shareholders may miss out on an attractive offer for their company, too late and a company could be damaged following months of uncertainty and lack of focus on the day-to-day business.
