EasyJet was prepared to take more action to slow its expansion and to reduce the planned size of its fleet, Sir Colin Chandler, the airline’s chairman, told shareholders.

Sir Colin, who is due to retire by the end of the year, said on Thursday that the fleet plan “may change if the macro environment worsens in the next three to six months and given the lead-time for building aircraft”.
