Ford expands in S Africa despite blackouts

Ford Motor on Wednesday announced plans to expand its South African operations in spite of concerns over a worsening power crisis that may soon see it begin making vehicles by night.

The US carmaker said it would invest more than R1.5bn ($205m, €139m, £104m) to expand operations for the production of its next-generation compact pick-up truck and Puma diesel engine, mostly for export.
