Sir, Your article “Rothschild and Freshfields founders linked to slavery” (June 27) stated that Nathan Rothschild “benefited financially from slavery” by “using slaves as collateral in banking dealings with a slave owner”. The reality is that the Rothschilds benefited a great deal more from the abolition of slavery.
