Internet and World Cup drive advertising growth

Global advertising spending is growing faster than the economy as a whole, powered by a stronger-than-anticipated rise in internet activity and football's World Cup, according to a leading advertising buyer.

In a report out today, ZenithOptimedia says advertising spending will rise 6 per cent this year, up from 4.9 per cent growth in 2005.
