Key executive at Merrill to quit

Ahmass Fakahany, Merrill Lynch co-president, plans to step down from the investment bank following its massive losses on subprime mortgage-related securities.

Mr Fakahany’s departure, widely expected and confirmed on Monday by a person familiar with the matter, would leave Greg Fleming as the lone president and deputy to John Thain, chief executive.
