US generates record year for wind turbines

Last year was a record for the US wind energy industry. More wind turbines were installed in the US than any other country, bringing its total wind generating capacity to 11,600MW, according to the American Wind Energy Association.

After natural gas, wind accounted for more new energy-generating capacity than any other technology. The wind industry was also cheered by plans fromcompanies such as Clipper Windpower and Suzlonto open new wind turbine manufacturing plants in the US.
