Pearson, the education and media company, yesterday announced that Rona Fairhead, its chief financial officer, would become chief executive of The Financial Times Group.

This includes the Financial Times newspaper, Pearson's international business newspapers and financial magazines, and Interactive Data Corporation, the financial information division.
