Lawyers under fire for IPO curbs

Corporate lawyers have come under fire from their own ranks for over-interpreting US securities legislation and using it to curb the freedom of speech of clients looking to float in Europe.

The criticism comes amid increasing concern that careless talk ahead of an initial public offering could lead to prosecutions under the US capital markets regulations by which most European IPOs choose to be bound.
