A group of international medical experts convened by Sanofi-Aventis on Wednesday publicly rejected safety concerns over the French pharmaceutical group’s diabetes drug, Lantus.
Fourteen European and North American researchers called for more detailed analysis sparked by issues raised in four studies published last month in the academic journal Diabetologia. The authors of the four original studies had examined registers of diabetics in Europe, pointing to a potential connection between Lantus and cancer.
