FCC chief to step down

Kevin Martin is to step down as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission to join the Aspen Institute, a non-profit leadership organisation, the US media and communications regulator is expected to announce on Thursday.

His decision follows reports from people familiar with the incoming administration that Barack Obama will choose Julius Genachowksi, a former Harvard classmate of the president-elect, to chair the agency.
