China will focus on curbing inflation and preventing its economy from overheating, Wen Jiabao, the prime minister, said on Wednesday in his annual report to the National People’s Congress.

Mr Wen laid out government reforms that combined efforts to tame prices and a “prudent” fiscal policy with generous spending on health and social sectors. Education spending alone will rise 45 per cent this year.
