UK manufacturing recovery stutters

Britain’s manufacturing sector is struggling to maintain the momentum seen in recent months, with the summer’s rebound slipping back in September, a key survey showed.

The CIPS/Markit UK manufacturing purchasing managers’ index edged lower in September from the 49.7 level seen in August, with a headline reading of just over 49.5 – below the 50 mark which indicates a sector is neither growing or contracting.
