UK services sector steady in January

The UK services sector held steady in January, with the CIPS/NTC Index edging up marginally to 52.5 from a four and a half year low in December, but still well below its long-term trend.

Overall, however, service sector employers are losing confidence in the business outlook, with expectations of activity for the next 12 months at their lowest since October 2001, just after the terrorist attacks in the US.
