I don’t get it. How does Sir Fred Goodwin’s pension pot basically double in a year from £8.37m to £16m?

The RBS scheme is a generous one. It allows workers to accrue a pension entitlement equal to 1/60th of final salary for each year of service and to retire at 60. Even better, those who are asked to retire by RBS can expect to do so without any penalty.
