Amtek buy-out owners discuss trade sale

The private equity owners of Singapore’s Amtek Engineering have held preliminary discussions that could result in a lucrative trade sale of the company only a year after it was taken private, according to people familiar with the situation.

CVC Asia Pacific and the private equity arm of Standard Chartered, which led a buy-out in July 2007, are mulling over signals that buyers could be prepared to pay up to $1bn to acquire the asset.
