US and Cuba hold talks on postal links

Talks to resume normal postal services between the US and Cuba were held in Havana on Thursday as the ideological foes took another tentative step in their efforts to improve relations.

Washington cut off its direct mail service to Cuba in August 1963. At present, post between the US and Cuba must go through a third country and can take as long as two months.
