International banks: An exciting opportunity

International investment banks spent most of last year giddy with excitement about the revenue potential of the Gulf Co-operation Council.

The six-nation group, which comprises Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, looked to provide a glittering opportunity for western banks hoping to capitalise on the financial liquidity generated by record oil prices.
