S Korean growth eases won concerns

Strengthening domestic demand helped propel growth in South Korea by a faster-than-expected 1.3 per cent during the first three months of the year, suggesting growth in Asia?s fourth largest economy was becoming more balanced.

Although the official estimates published on Tuesday increase the likelihood of further interest rate rises, they also helped assuage fears about the impact of the strong Korean won on the export-dominated economy.
