US law firms benefit from big rise in fees

The top 50 US law firms pulled in a total of $33bn in fees last year, pushing up the average profits for a partner to $1.2m, according to figures released on Thursday.

For the second year running, the biggest American firms have achieved double-digit growth in both turnover and profits, rankings compiled by Legal Week magazine show.
