Jobs pledge set to end wildcat strikes

Wildcat strikers claimed victory in a dispute over foreign labour on Wednesday when a contractor at a liquefied natural gas terminal agreed to withdraw 40 Polish construction workers and replace them with UK staff.

The agreement at Milford Haven, west Wales, with Hertel UK will be put to a mass meeting this morning. It is expected to end a wave of unofficial strikes that on Wednesday involved more than 1,000 workers at seven refineries, terminals and power stations in England and Wales.
